Quick answer
Exterior Solutions in Irvine and South Orange County, CA: Beyond the gutter itself, The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Irvine replaces fascia board, sets up underground drainage that carries downspout water away from the foundation, and installs under-deck ceiling systems that keep the space below a deck dry. Call (949) 994-4410 or book online.
A gutter only works as well as what it hangs on and where it empties. On South Orange County homes the trouble spots are predictable: fascia that has softened behind a leaking run, downspouts that dump onto stucco walls and slab edges, and hillside lots in Laguna Niguel and Rancho Santa Margarita where runoff races downhill.
Our exterior solutions cover those pieces. Fascia board gives the gutter something solid to hold, underground drainage moves the water off the property, and under-deck ceilings turn the dripping space below a deck into somewhere you can use.

Fascia, drainage or a deck ceiling: which one your home needs
Each of these fixes a different part of the path roof water takes. Here is how to tell which part is failing at your house, and the order the work should happen in.
The gutter is the middle of the trip. Above it sits the fascia, the board that carries the gutter and, on many tile roofs, helps support the bottom row of tile too. When that board softens, no amount of new gutter will hang straight for long.
Below the gutter, every downspout empties a whole section of roof into one spot. On a flat lot in Irvine or Lake Forest that spot is usually the slab edge or a planter. On a slope in Laguna Niguel or Rancho Santa Margarita it is the hillside below the house. Either way, the ground has to take the water somewhere safe.
Then there is the roof most people forget: an upper deck. Rain and hose water fall straight through the board gaps onto whatever is underneath, which is often the only flat patio a hillside home has.
Which exterior service fits the problem
| Service | What it fixes | Signs at your house | Where we see it most |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fascia board repair and replacement | Soft, split or missing board behind the gutter | A gutter that dips between hangers, peeling paint or stains running down from the roof edge | Older ranch homes in Costa Mesa, coastal homes under the marine layer, Spanish homes in San Clemente |
| Underground gutter drainage | Downspout water with nowhere safe to go | Puddles at the slab, washed-out planters, wet walkways, soggy ground on the slope | Hillside lots in Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo and Rancho Santa Margarita, flat lots in Irvine and Lake Forest |
| Under-deck ceiling systems | Water dripping through deck boards onto the space below | Drip lines on the patio, damp storage, stained joists | Stacked decks on hillside homes in Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo |
The order we do the work in
- Trace the water. We follow it from the tile edge through each downspout to where it lands today.
- Fix the board.Rotted fascia is replaced or sound fascia is wrapped, so hangers have solid wood to grip.
- Hang the gutter.A run sized for that roof plane goes up on new hangers, pitched toward its outlets.
- Place the downspouts.Outlets go where they can tie into a line, which can mean moving one to a different corner to avoid cutting a driveway or walk.
- Connect the drainage.Buried lines carry the water to daylight, a drywell or a storm connection, with our drainage partners installing new pipe.
- Water test.We run water through the whole system and watch it reach the outlet before anyone calls it done.
Keeping these systems working
Both an under-deck ceiling and a buried line are out of sight, which is why they get forgotten. Ceiling panels and their gutter should be checked now and then for clogs and leaks, and buried lines stay clear only when the gutters above them stay clean. Our gutter maintenance program folds those checks into regular visits, and a metal gutter guard keeps leaves and grit from ever reaching the pipe. If you are on a slope, our Laguna Niguel gutter service page covers how we approach hillside lots.

Why Irvine Area Homeowners Call the Brothers
A new gutter dumping onto a slab only moves the problem. We plan from the roof edge down to the property line.
Concrete and clay tile roofs and stucco walls are the norm across South County. Our fascia, gutter and drainage plans account for both.
Sloped yards in the Laguna communities and the foothills need water controlled, not released. We plan every outlet with that in mind.

We handle the three things connected to the gutter: fascia board replacement, underground drainage that carries downspout water away from the foundation, and under-deck ceiling systems that keep the area below a deck dry. Each serves the same purpose, which is getting roof water off the house and away from it.
If water spills over the gutter’s edge, it is usually the gutter. If the gutter works but water pools along the base of the wall or a downspout floods the slab, it is drainage. Solutionists are trained to spot poor drainage during the estimate and will tell you which one you have.
On sloped lots like many in Laguna Niguel, Laguna Beach and Rancho Santa Margarita, roof water picks up speed as soon as it leaves the downspout. Released onto the slope, it can erode planters and soak the hillside below the house. Carrying it through a buried line to a controlled outlet keeps it from doing damage on the way down.
Yes, we plan it as one project. Our crew replaces rotted fascia, hangs the gutter on solid wood and sets up the downspouts, and a Solutionist plans where the water goes next. When new underground pipe is needed, we coordinate it with our drainage partners, so you keep one point of contact from the gutter to the outlet.
Yes. Buried lines can clog if leaves and grit get into them, and under-deck ceiling panels should be checked for clogs or leaks that weaken their waterproofing. Regular gutter cleaning keeps debris out of both, which protects the foundation, the deck framing and the space below from water damage and mold.
Before the rainy season, which here runs roughly from late fall through March. Storms that drop a lot of rain in a short time are when soft fascia lets a full gutter pull loose and a downspout floods the foundation. Summer and early fall are the easy months to get the work scheduled.
